Panteion was founded in 1927 as a School of Political Sciences. In 1989 it became Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences, the only university in Greece on social sciences. It has 10 departments, 16,500 registered students and a faculty of 250 members. It also operates 3 research institutes, 4 laboratories, 19 research centres.
An university with an international orientation it has Jean Monet fellowships and participates in numerous European Exchange Programmes with bilateral agreements with 65 universities and institutes in 17 European countries. It offers 13 postgraduate studies programmes.
Panteion Library, the main social sciences library in Greece, operates as a lending library and researchers have also access to more than 10,000 electronic journals and online databases.
